INDIA- Slowly becoming NDIA?

http://homepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~poyntz/India/images/india1760_1905.jpg

India map.

I used to draw very good in my childhood. Many a times I enjoyed drawing the map of India, which I knew by heart. I've always thought that even the map of India looked humane, like a man wearing a hat with his right hand on his hip and an extended left arm that offered something(benevolence?) to other nations. Imagine my shock when I came across picture no.3! I felt as if the head I loved had been hacked away! History of India shows that  from a much larger area, India is now reduced to this.

My question is, if other countries (our friendly neighbourhood?!) can break rules and shift LOCs, why does India have to maintain its Ahimsa image and lose itself part by part? What if, even if we don't conquer other countries, regain places which were rightfully ours? Please enlighten me.

- ... draw very well...

You have a point there. It does make one wonder why we stay rooted, despite the events that occur around us.

other China and Pakistan, which seem to indulge in a lot of posturing, we have don't really have any hostile neighbors..

so its important that we don't antagonize them unnecessarily in the name of renewed nationalism or whatever fancy names u wish to accord to this.

but having said this i wish to state that India should indulge in military action if there is an outright violation of its territorial integrity

mani...one more thing just bcos nations change their boundaries according to their own whims and fancies should not bother us.bcos they need acceptance of other countries to do that and obviously those countries arent going to give that...

p.s. me saying that that house, measuring say 100 ft by 200 ft ,belongs to you is more impt than u saying the same...get it...?

@palani

first off, welcome to my blog.
I'm not saying we should wage a war and reclaim our territory. I just wonder what the reactions of China and Pakistan would be, if we occupy their territory. Will they be silent like us? I don't think so.
I get what you say and pray for that to be true. But even the UN isn't sure. Kashmir is shown in dotted lines.

@mani..i do agree with u on that part about being unusually silent..but the problem with our country's leaders seems to be that they either belong to one extreme or the other..no noise or too much of it...:(

so when we allow the other extreme ppl ( i.e. the noisy, chest beating ppl)to come to power they tend to divide our ppl which causes internal strife and hence is detrimental to our country(case in point gujarat riots)...so now u know why liberal forces tend to fare better in elections than the more radical ones..bcos ppl feel that living in peace at ur home is more impt and dont mind compromising the nationalism part of their lives for the above mentioned reason..

'bcos ppl feel that living in peace at ur home is more impt and dont mind compromising the nationalism part of their lives'

Very good point. Come to think of it, I confess that's what even I'll do (only the living in peace part) rather than go out and try to change the world. A well made point. This is your area of interest. I'm leeching info from you:P
