Cigarette Ban In Cinemas? Get real!!

Our Central Government has decided to ban depiction of cigarettes in films. Great news, isn't itblogger-emoticon.blogspot.com? The Government has taken a step forward in making a cigarette free society! I fully appreciate this one-small-step-for-a-man-a-giant-leap-for-mankind thingblogger-emoticon.blogspot.com! If the Govt. cares, I have even better suggestions:
1.Ban murders from films; nobody will murder others anymore.blogger-emoticon.blogspot.com
2.Please show child birth; children are no longer born, without the depiction.blogger-emoticon.blogspot.com
3.Ban marriages in cinema; we can control population to a great extentblogger-emoticon.blogspot.comblogger-emoticon.blogspot.com, and finally,
4.Ban showing human beings in films; we shall all cease to exist!blogger-emoticon.blogspot.com

Hilarious... :D

VHP [ans may be SASTRA et al] mite wanna think of these;
---
Ban relationship of any kind, especially heterosexual- So 'U' rating can be 'U'niversally applied. (We can worry about homosexuality later)

Ban movies!- No one will get spoilt! Huzzah!

Or, Movies only about studies... ;)
---
Will add to that list as and when i think of one... ;)

@mani..ppl(esp teens who are in an impressionable age) tend to pick up "cool" habits of their heros' on screen and in order to prevent that there has been a ban on smoking in the big screen..

many countries have similar legislations with differing amounts of severity, so we have not gone out of the way with this one..

i was infact pleased with that legislation but what irks me is that why the movie industry (which the law affects) wasn't taken into confidence b4 the law was actually implemented..

@palani

Teenagers tend to follow such habits only if they are publicized, like doing style with cig, etc.. If cigars are used as a casual ingredient in a movie, no one's going to even pay attention to it. Tel me a few instances where cigars affected teenagers. All you can come up with are scenes where hero makes it a show of smoking stylishly. That's the point i'm stressing.
We can ask heroes to stop 'performing' with cigarettes. Any other measure will be widely off the mark.

@Mani..
its doesn't really matter whether the cigarette is utilized for adding to the style quotient of the hero or is used as just another thing that is related to the hero..

the very presence of cigarettes can be of disastrous consequence given the kind of demi god status that our heroes enjoy...

Hmmm... I was thinking. Guess it's best to leave ppl to do what they want. Why poke our nose? In the end, it's their life... They have authority over it. So, if they wanna puff it away, it's best not to stand their way; cos well... Passive smoking is injurious too. ;)

@ mathangi

Well said! We can't tell the film makers to portray an unreal society. C'mon, ppl still smoke and its just another character in the film.
